The world is full of people that have attempted to burn some fat and become more built yet struggled and struggled with no real results and so quit.

If muscle building was as easy as some say it is, the world would be full of people with perfect bodies and we wouldn’t need things like trainers, gyms and guides telling us what to do. However, it’s not as difficult as people think either.

To build muscle, one of the most important things to do (other than work out and eat right of course) is to set goals. Only by setting specific goals can you measure your progress and see how capable you are of reaching those goals. When setting a goal, make sure you follow the SMART principle – set goals that are Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Time-bound.

So instead of saying “I want to build muscle”, say “I want to gain 5kg of muscle within three months”. This way you know how close you are to your goal and how you’re progressing. Once you decide upon a goal, make sure you check it over with a friend to make sure that it agrees with the SMART formula – you don’t want a goal that’s impossible to reach as that’ll just discourage you, but you also don’t want a goal that makes it too easy.

Use visual images to help you focus. Want a ripped six pack? Stick up a picture of one in your bedroom so you see it every morning when you wake up (and every night before you go to sleep). This helps you visualise exactly what you want and you can stay more focused on how you’re going to get it. Don’t delay on these goals – the quicker you set them, the quicker you’ll be on your way to achieving them.

If you want to build those stunning muscles and have that ‘to-die-for’ body, you need to get every detail right. There are many misconceptions regarding body- building due to which many people fail to achieve any results and ultimately give up. If you do it wrong, you will never see the results, no matter how long and how hard you keep burning yourself out. Here are a few things you should keep in mind if you wish to build a fabulous body.

Firstly, you need to understand that every individual is different and so is his or her body type. A workout regime might work wonders for someone, while it may bring you no results at all! This is because each one of us has a different body composition and you need to choose a workout that suits your body. It is important that you consult your trainer before you blindly start on an exercise regime. For all you know, you might begin to see negative results. In addition, you need to be mindful of your body capacity. Ensure not to over- work yourself at the outset- it takes time to build the body capacity.

Another useful tip is to time your exercises properly. The reason you need to do this is so you can gradually increase the time you spend on each exercise. The muscles get used to the stress quite soon, so it is important to keep increasing the time to keep them under stress. If you follow this tip, you will start seeing the results much sooner.

A very common misconception among body- builders, or generally among people who do regular exercise, is that the longer the workout is the sooner you see the results. Well, this is a myth that fogs the best of us. In reality, it is only the intensity of your workout that translates into results, and not the length of the workout. Therefore, rather than slog long hours in the gym, do intense training for relatively shorter periods. You will see results much sooner this way. Also, make it a habit to let your muscles rest for at least a day after a workout. They need time to grow after the stress.

Keep the above tips etched in your mind from now on. You will be surprised at how soon you see your muscles building.

Have you been working out to your limits and still do not see those muscles that you crave? Do you wonder what it is that you are doing wrong? Many of us, who want to build those stunning muscles, face these questions at some point of time. The answer to them is actually quite simple, though easy to overlook. Here are a few insider tips that will answer these questions that trouble you.

The first thing that you probably are unaware of is that over workout or burning yourself out is counterproductive. If you push your body too much, after a point it starts burning the muscles that you have built for energy. So, your entire effort goes futile. Therefore, always ensure that you avoid burnout.

Then, another thing that you need to keep in mind is that you have to let your muscles rest after a workout to allow them to grow. There has to be a minimum space of 24 hours between your workouts if you have to see those muscles build. Push your muscles to the extremes and then allow them to cool down. This is where most of us go wrong and we eventually get frustrated seeing no results.

Last, but not the least, it is absolutely essential to back up your workout regime with a proper protein- rich diet. Muscles are made up of proteins and to allow the muscles to grow you need to increase your protein intake. You can eat lots of meat, especially fish and eggs, as they are highly protein rich. Vegetables can also be an option although they are not that protein rich as compared to meat. If you feel you cannot rely entirely on food for the protein requirement, you can choose to take good protein supplements. However you do, ensure that you increase your protein intake.

These are just a few tips that can prove to be very helpful in giving you a headstart. Many of us are ignorant of the above facts because of which most of our efforts go in vain. Start applying these pointers and you will see the results for yourself.

There are countless misconceptions regarding the diet one should follow while undergoing muscle- building. Many believe that body- building requires eating less or weight loss. There are others, who believe they can eat anything and the muscles will still grow. Whatever your belief might be, the truth is you need to get certain facts right before you even begin on your muscle- building regime.

Firstly, there is no truth in the concept that body- building entails weight- loss. Many people simply start eating less under this misconception. The fact is that, practically, you need to start eating more if you want to see your muscles grow. The muscles are highly stressed after an intense workout and you need eat much more than usual to let them grow after wards. They need food to be able to grow! The trick is to eat several times a day and eat less each time. If you eat too much at once, you feel sleepy. Therefore, you need increase your food intake and you can do so by eating decent amounts several times a day.

Another major misconception is that you can eat anything and still grow muscles. This is not true at all. You need to increase the protein levels in your diet to help muscles to build. Protein majorly constitutes the muscles in our body and in order to grow muscles, it is vital to provide them with ample amounts of protein after workouts. To achieve this you need to supplement your diet with lots of protein- rich foods. Fish, eggs (egg white), chicken, and red meats are the best sources of protein. Other foods that are very rich in protein are green vegetables like spinach. Broccoli and sweet potatoes are rich in antioxidants, which are essential in fighting free radicals that which release while working out. You can take the help of a professional dietitian to plan a proper diet for you.

Other than that, a very important thing that most of us miss is that eating the right things is not enough. It is crucial to eliminate or stay away from the ‘wrong’ foods too, in order for the right diet to complement your workout. You need to ignore junk food, pastries and cakes, etc, completely. You also need to avoid carbonated and caffeinated beverages (sodas and coffees). It is best to stay away from fried, fatty foods and to replace saturated fats with unsaturated fats (olive oil is a good option).
